A private label Brazilian keratin line is produced by a Brazilian manufacturer to your specification and sold under your brand. With a 300 litre minimum per SKU you can launch a complete service system — clarifying shampoo, keratin active and maintenance pair — in roughly 8 to 12 weeks, provided the formula is formaldehyde-free and the export dossier matches your destination market.
- Private label means your brand on a manufacturer's proven formula base; OEM/ODM describes how much of the formulation work is yours.
- Only formaldehyde-free systems are viable for the EU, UK and most regulated markets.
- 300 litres per SKU is enough for a four-product professional system on a first order.
- Packaging compatibility testing with the actual acid formula prevents the most common launch failure.
- The written salon protocol is part of the product — complaints usually come from application, not chemistry.
What Brazilian keratin actually is
Brazilian keratin is a professional smoothing service in which hydrolysed keratin and conditioning agents are deposited on the fibre and sealed with heat, reducing volume and frizz for weeks. It is a category name, not a regulated definition, so two products sold under it can be chemically very different. Your specification — not the name on the bottle — determines whether it is sellable in your market.
Private label, white label, OEM and ODM
| Model | What you get | Ideal para |
|---|---|---|
| Etiqueta Blanca | An existing formula and pack, your logo | Fast market entry, tests, small distributors |
| Private label | An established base adjusted to your brief (fragrance, pH, actives, claims) | Most professional brands |
| ODM | The manufacturer develops a formula to your concept | Brands wanting a differentiated signature system |
| OEM | You bring the formula, the factory produces it | Brands with their own R&D or an inherited formula |
Most launches start as private label and move toward ODM once volume justifies exclusive development. We describe both routes on our página de private label de Brazilian Keratin.
Formaldehyde-free is a formulation decision
A formula is not formaldehyde-free because the label says so — it is formaldehyde-free when no ingredient releases formaldehyde at the pH and iron temperature of the service. Ask for the full INCI list, the acid system, the pH, the recommended iron temperature and written confirmation against the restricted list of your destination market before approving anything.
The system, not a single bottle
- Clarifying shampoo that opens the cuticle and removes residue before the service.
- The keratin active in professional volume, the SKU your price list is built around.
- A post-service sealing or protein step to close and protect the fibre.
- A sulphate-free retail maintenance pair that extends the result and produces repeat revenue.
All four can be produced at 300 litres each, so a complete system is achievable on a first production order rather than staged over a year.
Cost structure and MOQ
At 300 litres, the variables that move your landed cost are packaging (usually the largest single line), fragrance, active concentration and the size of your fill. Bulk supply in drums with local filling lowers freight and duty on many routes; the trade-off is that you take on filling quality control. Both are covered in the MOQ guide and the local filling guide.
Packaging compatibility
Acid systems interact with packaging. Bottle resin, cap liner, pump internals and label adhesive all need compatibility testing with the actual formula under accelerated storage. This is where smoothing launches most often fail: the product performs in the lab and degrades in a distributor's warehouse three months later.
Compliance by market
| Market | What is required |
|---|---|
| EU / UK | Formaldehyde-free formulation, Responsible Person, Product Information File, CPNP or SCPN notification |
| Estados Unidos | MoCRA facility registration, product listing, safety substantiation |
| Gulf (UAE, Saudi Arabia) | Local registration, certificate of free sale, Arabic labelling, halal where required |
| India | CDSCO import registration through a local authorised agent |

Realistic timeline
- Weeks 1–2: brief, market, positioning and sample kit evaluation.
- Weeks 2–4: formula adjustment and salon testing of the approved samples.
- Weeks 4–6: packaging selection, artwork, compatibility and stability.
- Weeks 6–10: production, quality control and documentation.
- Weeks 10–12: export paperwork, shipping and arrival.
What is the minimum order for a private label Brazilian keratin line?
300 litres per SKU. A four-product professional system is therefore 1,200 litres in total on a first order.
Can I sell Brazilian keratin in the European Union?
Yes, when the system is formaldehyde-free and formulated against Regulation (EC) 1223/2009, with an EU Responsible Person and a complete Product Information File. Formaldehyde-releasing systems cannot be notified.
What is the difference between private label and OEM for keratin?
Private label adapts an established manufacturer base to your brief. OEM means you supply the formula and the factory produces it to your specification.
Can I buy Brazilian keratin in bulk drums instead of finished bottles?
Yes. Bulk supply from 300 litres with local filling is common for distributors who already have filling capacity, and usually reduces freight cost per unit.
How long does a first order take?
Typically 8 to 12 weeks from approved brief to shipment, depending on packaging lead time and your market's registration path.
